The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education(IGCSE) curriculum is recognized as the world’s most exemplary education curriculum to transform 14-16 years old students into well-rounded individuals. Cambridge IGCSE schools extend the limits for student-centered learning, and they create a flexible environment for students to develop intellectual inquiry and communication skills. The two-year course covers every aspect of student development, and they will also come across several cross-cultural perspectives.
The IGCSE is a secondary education certificate in English, similar to the GCSE. In the United Kingdom, it's acknowledged as equal for recognizing previous academic accomplishments.
We believe the Cambridge curriculum builds an outstanding learning platform for students to excel in different areas of academics and life.
Faculty at GIIS pay attention to every single student and guide them throughout their academic journey. Our teachers make a huge difference in the classroom with their interactive learning sessions that embodies an international approach for students.
Learning is never exciting with books alone, so we at GIIS use innovative tools and resources to help students develop a solid intellectual foundation. Our learning framework is built using the Cambridge IGCSE program guidelines, so all of our activities promote an international mode of study.
IGCSE schools around the world follow the same grading criteria to assess students on every level. At GIIS, we have delivered incredible results for all grades, and it is not just for one year. We have been proving our prominence through our excellent results year over year, and more than 85% of our singapore students and more than 33 % of our Tokyo students in class-10 are able to score A* in the finals.
Facilities at GIIS are the best among several top IGCSE schools in Tokyo. Our digital classrooms are equipped with the latest technology to maximize a student’s potential. We also introduced AV and innovation rooms to give students a unique environment for self-learning and discovery. Our facilities add tremendous depth to the education offerings included in the two-year course, while our holistic 9GEM framework takes care of the overall student experience.
GIIS Tokyo has a unique methodology to check the academic and non-academic progress of our students. We have devised methods and installed platforms which give us raw data on students’ performances inside and outside the classroom.
Data Analytics in academics at GIIS is called the 7S method, in which teachers and coordinators gather stats on a student’s marks in seven different areas of development. This includes school, segment, section, subject, subject-teacher, student and summary.
Data is then studied by the teacher to determine progress of the student in all areas of development, and an assessment is done which helps students understand their strengths and weaknesses.
The IGCSE program is phenomenal for students to explore new areas of learning and build on the groundwork for advanced studies. IGCSE schools spend a significant amount of time bringing new cultural perspectives and increasing the diversity of the learning environment.
Our teaching methodologies help students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. IGCSE programs also promote a vibrant learning atmosphere for students to relish their academic journey.
With 70+ subjects and 30 different languages, IGCSE has an incredible framework that makes students intellectually active and culturally aware.
“It takes multiple years for English learners to gain a high enough level of language proficiency to perform on par with their native English‐speaking peers. English learners cannot wait until they are fluent in English to learn grade‐level content. Instead, they must continue to develop their math and reading skills as well as their knowledge of social studies and science, even while learning English.”

At GIIS Tokyo campuses English proficiency is of the utmost importance. We recognize our students’ efforts and want to make sure they have the support necessary to become fluent global communicators.
Unlike our English Language Support (ELS) programme, English as a Second Language (ESL) is offered as a subject within the Cambridge Upper Secondary programme at GIIS Tokyo.
The mission of our ESL programme is clear, to assist our non-native English speakers as well as those students who may require additional support in order to help them acquire the desired level of English language proficiency.
The ESL programme is offered as a subject within the Cambridge Upper Secondary programme, Grade 9 and 10 at GIIS Tokyo.
1. Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language is designed for students who already have a working knowledge of English language and who want to consolidate their broader understanding in order to progress in their education.
2. Through their studies students will improve their ability to understand and use English in a range of situations during their education and career.
3. The aim of the programme is to achieve a level of practical communication ideal for everyday use, which can also form the foundation for further in-depth language study.
Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language (ESL) provides students the opportunity to gain lifelong skills including:
1. Better communicative ability in English
2. Improved ability to understand English in a range of day to day situations and in a variety of social life styles
3. Wider international perspective.
